At Sri Arini, we believe that language is best learned through meaningful experiences. Our English Garden Diary programme brings learning beyond the classroom by combining English language development with nature-based activities that encourage curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
Through a series of engaging gardening projects, students expanded their English vocabulary while developing practical skills and a deeper appreciation for the environment.
Activity 1: Soil Mixing
The day began with students preparing the planting medium by mixing soil and sand. As they explored the different textures with their hands, they also learned the English names of the materials and practised using vocabulary related to gardening and the planting process.
This hands-on experience allowed students to connect new words with real actions, making language learning both meaningful and memorable.
Activity 2: Plant, Draw & Spell
Students then participated in a creative language activity where they identified different parts of a plant, drew them, and practised spelling each word in English.
By combining observation, drawing, and spelling, students strengthened their vocabulary while building confidence in using English in a fun and interactive way.
Activity 3: Garden Decoration
To make our farm area even more welcoming, students designed beautiful dreamcatcher-inspired hanging decorations and wrote motivational words such as “Bloom Bright.”
This activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and positive thinking while giving students another opportunity to practise English in a meaningful context. Their colourful creations have transformed our garden into a cheerful and inspiring learning space.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
The English Garden Diary reflects Sri Arini’s commitment to experiential learning. By integrating English with hands-on gardening activities, students are able to develop language skills naturally while nurturing creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and environmental awareness.
At Sri Arini, every learning experience is designed to help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally—because we believe the best education happens when children learn by doing.
